Bribery on policeman's behalf, man arrested

NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 at the instance of a policeman.

On Thursday, Sunil Kumar Verma lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption officials alleging that on Wednesday he was picked up by some police personnel at Shakarpur and threatened with dire consequences if he did not pay Rs. 5,000 as bribe.

Acting on the complaint, the sleuths laid a trap and arrested one Raju, who had come to collect the money from Sunil. He allegedly revealed that Constable Surender Bhati of Bhajanpura police station had asked him to collect Rs. 5,000 from Sunil.
