BANGALORE: A four-member gang kidnapped a cloth merchant and later released him after withdrawing Rs. 50,000 from an ATM using his debit card. They also robbed him of his gold ornaments and drove away in his car. The incident that occurred on Thursday came to light on Saturday. On Thursday at 11 p.m. four persons waylaid the car by which Tofal Ghosh was travelling near Sirsi Circle on Mysore Road. The four kidnapped Ghosh and took him around the city. While travelling they demanded Ghosh to pay a ransom of Rs. 2 lakhs. The culprits, the police said, stopped the car near UTI and Bank of India ATM counters and made Ghosh withdraw Rs. 25,000 from each counter. The kidnappers then snatched the money from him. In the early hours of Friday, the kidnappers dropped Ghosh at Byatarayanapura after relieving him of his gold chain, gold ring and a bracelet.
