Improving skills

As part of the National Service Scheme Programme `Language-My Friend' at Pookoya Thangal Smaraka Vocational Higher Secondary School at Kaikottukadavu, subscription of The Hindu has been launched at a function presided over by school Principal P.K. Annamma. T. Ravi, regional manager of The Hindu , Mangalore, delivered the keynote address on soft skill development.

The programme is part of developing the personality of students including reading and language skills, the school authorities said. It caters to students from Standard VIII to XII.

It marks the starting of a unique programme in this area by the school unit of the NSS with the objective of inculcating in students a spirit of inquiry and adventure. NSS Programme Officer T.K. Aboosali delivered the welcome speech at the function. PTA president M.K. Muhamood, Ameerali, George Joseph, V.V. Unnikrishnan, Gopikutty, Noushad and Abdul Rasheed felicitated the function. NSS volunteer Faizal proposed a vote of thanks.

Good show

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted its South Zone Swimming Meet 2005-06 at the Triplaar School of Learning, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, from September 9 to 11. Sree Gokulam Public School, Vadakara, bagged a silver medal in 200 m breaststroke, 200 m and 400 m medley and in the relay.

Win accolades

Suparna S.Nair, Babu Krishna M, Samer Aboobacker, Arya V, Amrutha N and Darsana Philip of the Presentation HSS, Chevayur, Kozhikode, won the USS scholarship exam conducted in March.
