GULBARGA: Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash, who commended Basaveshwara Prasada Nilaya here for helping poor meritorious students by providing them lodging and boarding facilities free of cost to pursue higher education, has donated Rs. 1 lakh to the organisation. Mr. Prakash, who paid a visit to the nilaya on the outskirts of the city on Sunday evening and had food along with students, recalled that during his student days, he had also organised free boarding facility for poor students at his college. He called upon the nilaya to expand its activities and extend boarding and lodging facilities to students coming from other districts also.
Earlier, B.H. Purantagi, convener of the nilaya, honoured Mr. Prakash and presented him with a portrait of 12th Century reformer Basaveshwara.
