CHENNAI: The Social Work Forum of the Madras School of Social Work will hold a two-day State-level seminar on issues related to the rights of children. The seminar, titled Mazhalai, will seek to sensitise social work students, non-governmental organisations, the police and the judiciary to child protection issues, Nalini Rao, convenor, told presspersons here on Monday. The focus areas would be child labour, children in disaster, child abuse, child health, girl child and gender issues, children and the law and children and education. Resource persons would provide an update. The proceedings would be documented, and a report submitted to the Government, Ms.Rao said. Among the topics to be deliberated upon are the origin of the issue, historical details, causative factors, current statistics, policies and national and international laws.
