I did not act inappropriately: Justice Sen

NEW DELHI: Caught in a controversy, Justice Suhas Sen on Monday said he had not acted in an "inappropriate manner" in speaking to Delhi Cricket Association chief Arun Jaitley, a member of the Jagmohan Dalmiya camp.

Mr. Justice Sen, a retired Supreme Court judge who was appointed observer for the BCCI elections, said he just had a short, formal conversation.

Explaining what transpired in Kolkata on the day of the Annual General Meeting, he said, "I was in Taj Hotel from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. doing nothing. Because of an injunction, no meeting was taking place. I was sitting all by myself... I didn't even have a book to read so I thought I will have a word with Jaitley," he told NDTV.

"I wanted to talk to him. They [hotel staff] said they will call him but then who connected whom I don't know. He [the person on the phone] said, `I'm already on my way to [the] airport. I cannot come and meet you. If a meeting is held, I may come'." — PTI
