Korea keeps title

SANTIAGO: Defending champion Korea came up with a brilliant show and won its second successive Junior World Cup hockey title, beating Germany by a lone goal here on Monday.

Korea, thus became the only country to win the title more than once.

India had finished a poor 11th in the tournament after winning its last match against Scotland 3-1.

Overcoming a sloppy start, Korea gradually took control of the game with superior ball control and better pace that swept away the Germans who were lucky to go into the breather without conceding a goal.

After play resumed, the defending champion threatened to tear apart the German defence but somehow the German's citadel remained safe till the 52nd minute when Bo Mi Kim sounded the board to score the winner.

In the playoff for bronze, Netherlands edged out 2-1 Australia, while Argentina scored a late goal to defeat Spain 2-1 and claim the fifth place.

In the other match, USA defeated South Africa 2-1 to finish seventh .— UNI
