Judicial custody of Ayodhya case accused extended

AYODHYA: A local court here on Monday extended till October 10 the judicial custody of five accused in the Ayodhya attack case.

All the five accused were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) under tight security arrangements who extended the judicial custody by 14 days.

Asif Iqbal and Mohammad Aziz were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on July 14, while Shakil and Nasim Ahmad were nabbed on July 27 in the Valley.

The four were accused of providing SIM card and sophisticated weapons to five terrorists, who stormed the high security Ram Janmabhoomi complex here on July 5.

The `fidayeen' were, however, killed by the security personnel deployed at the site.

The fifth accused, Irban, a Unani medical practitioner, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police on July 22 in Saharanpur district of the State. UNI
