LUCKNOW: In a bid to prevent circulation of fake currency, the Uttar Pradesh police would be provided currency checking machines besides being imparted training to detect bogus notes. In a circular to the district police chiefs, Director General of Police Yashpal Singh today said the fake currency detecting machines should be made available in the offices of the Superintendents of Police. He also directed that the policemen be provided training for quickly detecting bogus notes. The DGP directed that the activities of those found to be involved in printing of fake currency should be kept under scanner and their history-sheets be opened. Gangsters Act should be invoked in such offences, he said adding, the sleuths of local intelligence units and economic offences wing should also be included in investigation process. -- PTI
