THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government is spending a major part of the current year's budget allocation for tourism infrastructure development for improving communication facilities, Minister for Tourism K.C. Venugopal said here on Monday. In a message issued in connection with the observance of World Tourism Day on September 27, the Minister said the total provision for infrastructure development in the tourism sector this year was Rs.30 crores. The Government, he said, was trying to develop Kerala into a major tourist destination of the world. It is dedicated to providing better travel facilities for tourists. In this respect, emphasis needs to be given to water transport along with road transport.
