82 and still going great guns

MUMBAI: Legendary actor-filmmaker Dev Anand turned 82 on Monday. `Dev Saab' as Dev Anand is fondly called by friends, celebrated his birthday on the sets of his latest home production ``Mr Prime Minister'' at the Gateway of India here.

The sequences, featuring Dev Anand himself, were that of a rap song defining the character he plays in the film.

Even as he busied himself in the shooting, the debonair actor took time in between the schedule to meet the media, friends and people from all walks of life who greeted him on the occasion.

Talking to reporters, Dev Anand said he plans to complete the shooting of ``Mr Prime Minister'' by December.

``This film is a very ambitious project for me. It is a satire on the present day political system and is not intended to target any individual'', He added.

Speaking about his birthday, the veteran actor-filmmaker said he did not believe in lavish celebration of his birthday. "Those who love me come and extend their wishes,'' he added.

Referring to the passion of his life, he said it was making a film and forgetting about it.

``Box office considerations do not matter to me. I make a film on a subject which is true to my belief and opinion. Life goes on regardless of box office successes or failures'', He said.

Dev Saab said he was planning a film called ``Beauty Queen'' and one day while shaving and reading newspapers, a thought struck him that he should make a film on present day political system.

``I then began writing the story of Mr Prime Minister. I have not shelved Beauty Queen but only postponed it for a while'', he added. UNI
