BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and other leaders have mourned the death of D.M. Nanjundappa. The Governor said Dr. Nanjundappa was a renowned economist, an able administrator, an educationist, a scholar and a staunch follower of the Ramakrishna Mission. Society has lost in his death a sensitive and thoughtful member. Mr. Dharam Singh said Dr. Nanjundappa's recommendations for tackling regional imbalances and development of backward districts are noteworthy. He served with distinction as Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak and Bangalore universities. Governor of Maharashtra S.M. Krishna said the death of Dr. Nanjundappa has caused him deep anguish. Dr. Nanjundappa made signal contributions for economic development in the country. . Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash said that as Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, Dr. Nanjundappa ushered in many reforms. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda said Dr. Nanjundappa stood for scholarship, ability and integrity. ance. Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajashekaran said Karnataka has lost a person who was committed to its development. Dr. Nanjundappa was a visionary and a Gandhian. Water Resources Minister and President of the State unit of the Congress M. Mallikarjun Kharge said the economist will be remembered for his report on regional imbalances. . Finance and Industries Minister P.G.R. Sindhia said the economist was a man of foresight and he was deeply committed to the development of the State and the country.
