KOLLAM: The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the TKM College of Engineering is organising a four-day National level technical meet at the college from September 28. The meet titled `Centura 05' will be inaugurated by Minister for Power, Aryadan Mohammed. At a press conference here on Monday, college Principal M.C. Philipose and convener of the event S. Mohammed Kasim said that at the inaugural function, member of the Electricity Regulatory Commission C. Abdulla will deliver the keynote address. Chairman of the college governing body Shahal Hassan Musaliar will preside. On the occasion Director of Technical Education S.K. Mohan will release the second volume of the department magazine, Potenia 2. The meet includes five technical events and they are paper presentation, working models, general quiz, best manager and super brain contest. On September 30 there will be an open debate on the topic `Is the mass exodus of engineering graduates into the IT sector desirable.' The debate will be addressed by Member of the Planning Board G. Vijayaraghavan, Director of the TKM Institute of Technology P. Nizzar, Dean of the Marian Engineering College S.J. Nigli, Director of the Kerala University's Centre for Bioinformatics Achuthsankar S. Nair, Director of Information Systems K. Sasidharan, and engineering consultant D. Unnikrishna Prasad. The valedictory function on October 1 will be inaugurated by Labour Minister Babu Divakaran. Assistant General Manager of BSNL, Kollam, M.P. Loknath will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Kasim said that the event aims at providing a platform for budding engineers to exhibit their technical skills. Details available at the website www. eeetkmce.org/centura05.
