Staff Reporter

Municipalities of Adilabad, Mancherial, Bellampally throw up hung verdict

  • TRS makes a dent in Bellampally Municipality
  • Congress all the way in Gadwal, Wanaparthy
  • Narayanpet in for hung council; BJP bags 9

ADILABAD: In spite of the positive `wave' for the ruling Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has managed a respectable show in three of the six municipalities in Adilabad district.

Only the municipalities of Nirmal and Kagaznagar went the Congress way while in Bhainsa, the MIM and TRS combine won a simple majority.

The TRS was humbled in all other municipalities except Bellampally where its candidates won in five wards.

The municipalities of Adilabad, Mancherial and Bellampally threw hung results.

The Congress emerged the single largest party at Bellampally while this position was grabbed by the TDP at Mancherial. At Adilabad the Congress and the TDP shared 13 wards each.

However, the Congress' tally improves with three more wards where the Left allies won.

Mahabubnagar: It is a clean sweep for the Congress in Gadwal and Wanaparthy municipalities and emerged single largest party in Mahabubnagar Municipality.

It is set to wrest from the BJP, Narayanpet Municipality with the support of TRS and an independent besides the vote of Mahabubnagar MP D.Vittal Rao who is likely to give option for Narayanpet municipal council.

Of the total 38 wards in Mahabubnagar Municipality the Congress won 15 wards, the Telugu Desam in 14 wards, BJP in 3 wards, MIM in 2 wards, TRS in one and independents in three wards.

Of 26 wards in Gadwal Municipality the Congress secured absolute majority by winning 20 wards
