MANGALORE: Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (CAMPCO) here has found itself in a sticky situation following the Government's order to its President L.N. Kudoor, not to relieve Managing Director G.R. Krishnadas, who has been deputed by the State Government, from his duties. The Government through a fax message on Saturday told Mr. Kudoor not to relieve Mr. Krishnadas as the Managing Director of CAMPCO, sources in the Department of Cooperation told The Hindu on Monday. Mr. Krishnadas was the Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Bangalore, before being appointed as Managing Director of CAMPCO.
Relieved
The President had relieved him and A.V. Diwakaran, Secretary of CAMPCO, who was appointed by the Kerala Government, on Friday. Mr. Diwakaran was Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Kerala, before becoming Secretary of CAMPCO. The President had appointed P. Madhusudhana Rao, who was Deputy General Manager (Accounts), as the Managing Director of CAMPCO. Mr. Rao has assumed the charge both as the Managing Director and Secretary. According to sources, the Kerala Government is not comfortable with the decision of CAMPCO to relieve its Secretary. It is said that the Kerala Government has asked the President not to relieve Mr. Diwakaran.
Denied
However, while speaking to presspersons on Friday Mr. Kudoor denied receiving any fax message from the Kerala Government. CAMPCO only appointed the Managing Director on Friday and has not appointed the Secretary as yet. Meanwhile, sources said that Mr. Krishnadas reported to the State Government on Monday. Mr. Kudoor along with another director of the board, who is also an MLA, met a senior official in the Department of Cooperation in Bangalore on Monday. It has been reported that they are prevailing upon the Government not to post any Managing Director.
