Housewife found murdered
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A housewife Shikha Datta, 28, was found murdered in the balcony of her house at Ghansi Bazar near Charminar in the early hours of Monday.
The victim's husband, Pradeep Datta, told the police that he grew suspicious as his wife was not found in the bedroom when he woke up around 4.30 a.m.
"Sensing danger, I came into the balcony only to see her dead with burns all over the body," the Charminar police quoted him as saying.
However, the Charminar ACP, Syed Sharfuddin, said there were a lot of missing links in Datta's version. "We took Mr. Datta into custody for questioning." The police ruled it out as murder for gain, as no property was lost.
Victim torched
Her mouth was gagged and legs were tied with a torn piece of cloth. There were abrasions on the backside of her neck.
The police believe that the killers had smothered her to death and set her ablaze after dousing the body in kerosene. Forensic doctors said that the victim was killed after midnight.
