APTDC flouts State's diktat

Staff Reporter

Corporation asked to vacate premises of Adaiah Memorial School

  • APTDC obtains NOCs for diesel pump though it had permission only to park buses
  • Related GO mentions only temporary permission for bus parking
  • Issue crops up during Praja Patham programme in May

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad District Administration's deadline of July 1 given to the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) to vacate the bus bay it has constructed on a piece of land belonging to a Government school in Ranigunj had elapsed, but still the Corporation continues to operate from the premises.

District Collector Arvind Kumar had issued directions asking the APTDC to vacate the premises of the Adaiah Memorial School since the Corporation had set up a diesel pump and a bus maintenance unit on the premises though it had permission only to temporarily park its buses in the school compound.

The Corporation had managed to obtain no objection certificates (NOCs) from the Deputy Director (Explosives), Government of India, Chennai, and the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad for the diesel pump.

However, since a related Government Order mentioned only temporary permission for bus parking, both the NOCs were invalid, a Government official said.

    Safety aspects

The district administration, it is learnt, wrote letters to the Deputy Director of Explosives and the City Police Commissioner, asking them to cancel immediately the licence and the NOCs to store petroleum in the school compound.

The administration had pointed out that storage of petroleum on Government land and the licence issued to the same was objectionable since the district Collector, legally the custodian of the land, had not given any permission to that effect.

However, despite two reminders, both the Explosives official in Chennai and the Police have not yet responded so far, the sources added.

The locals had complained to the Collector and MLA Shashidhar Reddy during a Praja Patham programme in May last.
