Preparations in full swing for Rahman show

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A.R. Rahman's concert is a fortnight away, on October 8, and Bangaloreans are awaiting it with bated breath. After a series of concerts in the recent times — rock, pop and classical — Rahman's concert, which will entail different musical sensibilities, comes as a grand finale. Prepared to handle an audience of almost a lakh, Spice Telecom is partnering for the show with India Classic Arts, and massive preparations are on.

The show promises to be the most sophisticated yet, using laser and 3D technology. Now, for a composer like Rahman, whose genius flowered thanks to technology, it seems a perfect setting.

For this concert at Palace Grounds, Spice Telecom has thought up a techno-innovative method, M-Ticket, for easy access to tickets. Any GSM mobile user in India or abroad can book tickets by calling an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) 98441-00777. Spice Karnataka customers can dial 777 for booking tickets. You can specify the number of tickets, denomination, and even receive a confirmation. M-Tickets can also be bought via Internet, logging onto www.spicetele.com.

Payments can be made through credit cards. The tickets will be delivered on the mobile phones as a special barcode, which the user will have to save to gain entry to the concert. On the day of the concert, the customer is expected to carry his mobile phone to the venue where high-tech barcode scanners will scan the barcode on the mobile phone and allow entry through separate entrance points, specifically meant for M-ticket customers.

The tickets are priced at Rs. 9,999, Rs. 5,999, Rs. 2,499, Rs. 1,500, Rs. 999 (standing) and Rs. 499 (also standing). The first three categories and the Rs. 999 denomination come with 3D vision glasses. Tickets are also available at PVR Cinemas, Café Coffee Day and Planet M. Or call 080-25705858 for tickets at your doorstep.
