Two robbed near City Railway Station

BANGALORE: An armed gang robbed a businessman and a village accountant of Rs. 5,400, gold ornaments and mobile phones in separate incidents reported from Upparpet and Seshadripuram police station limits in the early hours of Monday.

The police said that around 5.30 a.m., Naresh Kumar, a cloth merchant and a resident of Chickpet, was walking towards his house after alighting from a train at the City Railway Station.

Four men reportedly waylaid him near Chikkalalbagh, slashed him on the face and robbed him of Rs. 600 in cash and a mobile phone.

The Upparpet police have registered a case and are investigating.

Fifteen minutes later, the same gang waylaid Narasaiah, a village accountant, near the railway underpass in Seshadripuram and robbed him of Rs. 4,800 in cash, a gold chain, a gold ring and a mobile phone, the police said.

Narasaiah, a resident of Lakshmanpuri, was walking towards the KSRTC bus terminus to catch a bus to Pavagada in Tumkur district, where he works as a village accountant, the police said.

The Seshadripuram police have registered a case and are investigating.

Arrested

The Koramangala police have arrested four persons, including an assistant manager of an industry, on a charge of robbery and recovered from them Rs. 1.35 lakh in cash.

The police said that on April 25 the accused had assaulted Muthuryappa, an employee of Vivek Industries in Koramangala, and robbed him of the cash when he had gone to a bank in order to deposit the money.

The arrested have been identified as K. Sampath Kumar alias Peter Pal (23), assistant manager of Vivek Industries, Jacob Vinod (22) and Harish (22) of Mahadevapura and Francis Arvin (23) of Ulsoor.
