Government gives Bidar Rs. 6-crore relief

BANGALORE:
Standing crops in 62 villages of Bhalki taluk of Bidar district have been damaged following excess release of water from the reservoirs in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash said here on Tuesday.
The release of 8,000 cusecs of water by Maharashtra from its reservoirs in the Krishna basin caused damage to crops, roads, and electricity poles. The damage has been estimated at Rs. 10 crores, he said.
The Government has released Rs. 6 crores to the Bidar Deputy Commissioner. Another sum of Rs. 2.46 crores will be released soon to provide compensation to farmers and for taking up road repair works, he added.
