Two flights daily to connet three cities in State

Staff Reporter

NEDUMBASSERY: Air Deccan will launch two daily flights, one service each in the morning and evening, interconnecting the Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode international airports within the next three months, G. R. Gopinath, managing director of the budget airline, announced here on Monday.

Capt. Gopinathan made the announcement while addressing a function organised at the Nedumbassery airport in connection with the launch of the airline's services from Kochi.

He made a commitment to launch a service in the Bangalore-Kochi-Agatti sector within two months. The announcement was made in response to the request made by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in his inaugural address to launch services connecting the airports within the State.

He said it would not have been possible for the airline to launch its operations from Kochi but for the wholehearted support of the Chief Minister and airport managing director V. J. Kurian.

He said Keralites would benefit most with the launch of budget services as they were present in large numbers in other States. There were more Keralites in Delhi than Delhiites and more Keralites in Bangalore than Bangaloreans, he remarked.

He said the State not only need top end tourists but should also eye mass tourism and this calls for the travel by masses.
