ADFIK looking for partners to run quality control labs

To undertake quality analysis of food products

KOCHI: The Agency for Development of Food Processing Industries in Kerala (ADFIK) is looking for partners to run and operate the quality control laboratories set up at the KINFRA parks at Mazhuvannur in Ernakulam and Kakkancherry in Kozhikode. The quality control laboratories have been set up as common facility centres to ensure excellence in operations and production.

The agency was registered by the KINFRA (Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation) last year to focus on promoting food-processing industries in the State. The establishment of the laboratories is an endeavour towards creating an enabling environment for food processing in Kerala.

The primary activity and responsibility of the laboratory is to undertake quality analysis of various food products in a professional manner that would meet the requirements at the international level. The scope of testing at the laboratory would include high-end testing such as proximate composition, fatty acids profile, flavour analysis, toxic metals, minerals, sugar analysis, preservatives, vitamins, artificial sweeteners in beverages, food additives, potability of water, effluent waste, coliform count, etc. The ADFIK has fixed certain eligibility criteria for the prospective partners. They should make a minimum investment of Rs.10 lakhs in the project. The annual turnover during the last three years should not be less than Rs.100 lakhs.

The net worth of the firm should not be less than Rs.100 lakhs.The quality control laboratory at Mazhuvannur is located on the premises of the KINFRA Small Industries Park, about 45 km from Kochi city. The park at Kakkancherry is about 20 km from Kozhikode city.
