Special buses for Tirupati Brahmotsavam festival

DHARMAPURI: In view of the Tirupati Devasthanam Brahmotsavam festival, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Dharmapuri division, is operating festival specials through select routes from October 1 to 14.

A Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation statement issued here on Tuesday said special buses would be plied from Salem to Tirupati via Dharmapuri, Tirupathur, Vellore and Chitoor; from Hosur to Tirupati via Krishnagiri, Kuppam and Chitoor and from Dharmapuri to Tirupati via Krishnagiri, Kuppam and Chitoor for the temple festival.

Small savings target

An amount of Rs. 35 crores has been fixed as the small savings target for Dharmapuri district for 2005-06, said Collector Sudeep Jain here on Tuesday. Of this, a sum of Rs. 19.17 crores had been achieved till August.

Recurring deposit

He said a total of 36 Recurring Deposit (RD) camps were being conducted in the panchayats unions in the district and 50 new RD accounts were being opened every month.

The camps were conducted in village panchayats, special village panchayats and municipal wards in the district.

Cash incentive

The Government has also sanctioned a cash incentive of Rs. 58.74 lakhs, of which a sum of Rs. 31.63 lakhs has been allotted for taking up various development works in the district, Mr. Jain added.
