DHARWAD: Krishi Mela 2005 and the National Agricultural Machinery Exhibition aimed at disseminating information on research, innovative methods and technology related to agriculture, will be held at the University of Agricultural Sciences here from September 29 to October 2. Speaking to presspersons here, S.A. Patil, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said that in addition to the usual stalls and interactive sessions, information will be made available on food processing, innovative technologies developed and practised by farmers and watershed models. A "farmer-to-farmer interaction meet" has been organised on all the four days. The titles "Shrestha Krishika" and "Shrestha Krishi Mahile" will be conferred on 24 farmers (two each from the 12 districts of north Karnataka) during the mela. B.S. Nadagoudar, Extension Director and Chairman of the Krishi Mela, said 400 stalls have been put up and 250 companies and organisations are participating in the event. Dr. Nadagoudar said a FM radio station dedicated to agriculture will be set up at the university shortly.
