Congress' win

The Congress' landslide win in the Andhra Pradesh civic elections is a shot in the arm for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The defeat of the Telugu Desam as well as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is also significant. The clear mandate should be honoured by the Congress; the Government should address the problems confronted by the State with renewed vigour.

The results of the A.P. municipal elections are proof that the Congress has learnt from its past mistakes. The party fought the elections with a clear strategy and won the majority of the seats. On the other hand, the outcome is a great setback for the TDP and the TRS.
