The ban on cell phone and imposition of a dress code in Anna University is immensely laudable. But the anger of students is also understandable because they alone are not responsible for adopting Western culture and values.

Nothing can be achieved by coercion, much less with the youngsters. Technology cannot be banished just because of some stray incidents somewhere.

I am surprised at the hue and cry over the dress code. Universities are temples of learning, not platforms for showcasing new fashion trends.
