Auto-rickshaws distributed to Muslim youth

VELLORE: The Agriculture Minister, K. Pandurangan, distributed auto-rickshaws to 14 educated unemployed Muslim youngsters at a function got up at the Vellore panchayat union office here on Sunday. The auto-rickshaws were obtained for the Muslim youth at a total cost of Rs.12.4 lakhs, on a low-interest loan through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Cooperative Bank under a scheme implemented by the Tamil Nadu Minorities Development Corporation.

The Minister said that the Government has allotted a sum of Rs.1,06,93,000 for the disbursement of similar loans for the purchase of autos by 121 Muslim youngsters in the State. He said that work orders were being issued to 36 persons for the repair of group houses constructed before 1991 at a cost of Rs.10000 each.
