Arrest comes in the wake of photos published in dailies.
CHENNAI: Two employees of a luxury hotel were arrested on Tuesday on the charge of permitting obscene dance programmes on the hotel premises without permission and for running a bar at a place without licence. Kaliyamurthi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mylapore, identified them as Vinodh Babu (35), Associate Manager, Food and Beverages and J.Hilash (22), Front Office Manager, of The Park Hotel. Mr Kaliyamurthi said following a complaint from Jebaraj of Just Trust, the police conducted a check on the hotel premises. The two were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody. Cases were filed against them for offences under Section 37 of the Tamil Nadu City Police Act (violation of licence condition), 294 of Indian Penal Code (obscene acts and songs to the annoyance of others in any public place) and under Section 24 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition License Act. In a press release, the City Police warned hotel managements that their permit would be terminated if they violated licence conditions by organising obscene dance programmes on their premises. The arrest comes in the wake of the publication of series of photographs of a private party held in the hotel's bar in dailies two days ago.
