MANGALORE: For 12 years, Belthangady-based Janajagruthi Vedike has played an important role in taking up cudgels against problems of alcoholism. On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, this crusade against drinking will be observed on a larger scale with former alcoholics people from throughout the State participating in it. Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajashekaran will inaugurate the programme. The vedike initially focussed its activities in Belthangady taluk. Now, it has extended its activities to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
