An evergreen star much loved at 83
BOLLYWOOD VETERAN Dev Anand is turning 83 this week, and music and video stores are filled with people buying compact discs of his films and hit songs which are as popular as ever, as is the veteran filmstar who does not seem to fade from public memory.
All those movies from "Taxi Driver" through "Guide," "Johnny Mera Naam" and "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" are still cherished memories for those of an older generation.
From Madhubala to Mumtaz and beyond, many top heroines have been paired with Dev Anand, who is also credited with introducing screen stars such as Zeenat Aman and other heartthrobs.
Though many playback singers have lent this veteran their voice for his melodious classics, that of Kishore Kumar is the one most associated with him.
