Computers destroyed in Nungambakkam fire

CHENNAI:
A fire broke out in the conference hall of a private company on Nungambakkam High Road early Tuesday, in which computers, tables and chairs were destroyed.
According to the Fire and Rescue Service authorities fire broke out at the office of the Tata Iron and Steel Company on the Nungambakkam High Road. Three tenders were pressed into service. The fire was put out in about an half-an-hour, they said.
An electrical short circuit might have caused the fire, said the Fire services authorities.
Members of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration in front of a Tamil daily's office on Anna Salai on Tuesday. Police the members, including 50 women, gathered in front of the daily Dinamalar's office and raised slogans against the paper. They charged that a news item that appeared in the paper saying that the Muslim women strongly opposed a campaign against Kushboo, was not correct.
As the demonstrators did not obtain prior permission from the police, they were dispersed.
