BANGALORE: A head constable attached to the Byatarayanapura traffic police station was killed when a lorry rammed the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion with a sub-inspector on Tuesday. Police said that around 11.30 a.m., head constable Nagaraj (45) and the sub-inspector were checking vehicles on Mysore Road. When they tried to stop a lorry, the driver sped away. The two policemen chased the lorry on their motorcycle. When the policemen came in front of the lorry and tried to stop it near the BHEL circle, the lorry hit their motorcycle. Nagaraj, a native of Chitradurga district, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. He was declared brought dead, the police said. The sub-inspector escaped with minor injuries. The Byataraynapura traffic police have seized the lorry and arrested the driver.
Vehicles recovered
The Ulsoor police have arrested Senthil (27) of Dhramapuri district in Tamil Nadu on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from him 12 two-wheelers, together worth Rs. 3 lakhs. Police said they had traced the owners of three of these vehicles that were stolen from Madivala and Hebbugodi police station limits.
Fake notes seized
The Cottonpet police on Monday arrested two persons from Tamil Nadu and seized from them fake currency notes worth Rs. 20,000. The names of the arrested were given as Arjun (39) of Thiruvannamalai district and Rajendra (35) of Changam.
