BANGALORE: Over 1,000 students turned up to know about higher education possibilities in Singapore at a two-day education exhibition organised here by the Singapore Tourism Board. Representatives from 17 educational institutions, including high schools, public universities, leading international universities and private educational institutions, are participating in the exhibition. Students were found crowding around stalls of institutions such as the Singapore Management University, Singapore's youngest varsity which offers degree programmes in business management, accountancy, economics, social sciences and information systems management. Recognising the demand for speciality courses in the Indian market, the LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Raffles Design Institute set up stalls offering certificate, diploma and degree courses in arts management, fashion design, interior design, jewellery design, fine arts, music, theatre and advertising. Among the participating institutions were: Bhavan's Indian International School, Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, EASB Institute of Management, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, PSB Academy, Singapore Management University, Singapore Sports School and the UNSW-Asia University of New South Wales. Singapore has over 66,000 international students, up from 57,000 in 2002. "The aim is to host an international student population of 1,50,000 by 2012. While students come from more than 60 countries, Singapore is especially attractive to students from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China and India," said an official from Singapore Tourism Board.
