ON THE GUARD: Policemen taking positions following tension at Langer Houz on Tuesday.
HYDERABAD: The youngster hailing from Langer Houz Khader Ali, who went missing three days ago, was reportedly found murdered on the outskirts of Kadiri in Anantapur district on Tuesday. Police sources said here that the decomposed body was lying on roadside and identified as that of the victim based on the clothes and a finger ring found on it. It is learnt that unidentified persons brought the victim in a hired car three days ago and killed him by smashing his head with a boulder before reaching Kadiri.
Tipped off by driver?
The car driver fled the spot after witnessing the murder and tipped off the police about the killing later, the sources said. A police party along with the victim's family members from Hyderabad, left for Anantapur late in the night to confirm the victim's identity. "We cannot say anything at this stage and waiting for the truth to come out," West Zone DCP Amit Garg said. Meanwhile, tension began to build up in Langer Houz area with Ali's family members and locals alleging that he was kidnapped by the relatives of a girl whom he fell in love with. With the workers of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Musliemeen (MIM), taking up an agitation for the third consecutive day on Tuesday fearing threat to Ali's life, police higher-ups moved additional forces to the area as a precautionary measure. Patrolling was intensified and additional police pickets were being posted following rumours about the youngster's murder.
General alert sounded
Tempers ran high with scores of locals and family members visiting Langar Houz police station at regular intervals to know about the progress of investigation. Suspecting that situation could slip out of control any time, quick reaction teams (QRTs) were deployed at sensitive locations. A general alert was sounded all over the old city also. The case had been keeping the police on tenterhooks. It unfolded when Pallavi, 19, of Pensionpura went missing from August 27. Her parents complained to the police that Ali eloped with her. Even as the police registered a case, a woman claiming herself to be Pallavi called them up saying that she was a major and had the right to take decision about her life.
The twist
The case took a twist when Ali disappeared on Friday night after calling up his father saying the girl's relatives were taking him to Kurnool to track her down. Incidentally, his mobile was found switched off. The male members of the girl's family going `underground' soon after Ali's mysterious vanishing had escalated tension sparking rumours about the possible danger to his life.
