Strike: AAI draws up contingency plan

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has prepared a contingency plan to ensure that flight operations are not affected by the nation-wide strike call given by the Airport Authority's Employees Union in protest against "modernisation of airports through privatisation."

An AAI top official said here on Wednesday that all steps had been taken to ensure that the airlines could operate normal services to and from the international airport here on Thursday. Additional officers have been put on duty.

Personnel of the Air Traffic Control, Fire Services Wing and officers of the AAI are not joining the strike. "We are not anticipating any problem," he added.
