The nationwide strike called by central trade unions on Thursday against the economic and anti-labour policies of the United Progressive Alliance Government is not right. The only result is that the common man has been inconvenienced. Are such occasional strikes necessary?

* * * A lot has been written about the effects of bandhs, dharnas, strikes but we still have not learnt any lessons. How can anyone act in a way that harms the nation and the people and still call himself a patriot or a fighter for a noble cause?
