Right message

This refers to the article, `Why urban Andhra Pradesh's message is important' (Sept. 29). The voters in the local body elections have correctly protested against the pro-rich and anti-poor reforms. Reforms that do not reach all are useless.

T. Prabhakara Rao,
Machilipatnam, A.P.

It is true that the TDP has been routed both in the 2004 general elections and the recent municipal elections for pursuing anti-poor policies. However, as rightly cautioned, the Rajasekhara Reddy Government should not become complacent with these electoral victories, but should continuously and critically review its performance and promises.

M. Mohan Raja,
Hyderabad

The TDP's rout should be an eye-opener to all pro-capitalist, pro-liberalisation, and pro-privatisation propagandists whether they are in the TDP, the Congress, or the BJP. The people have firmly rejected Mr. Naidu's policies. It will be better for the TDP to choose another leader dedicated to NTR's pro-poor policies.

G. Ramesh Babu,
Visakhapatnam, A.P.
