Letters to the Editor
October 1 every year is celebrated as Blood Donation Day. However, it is sad that we continue to import blood, which may not be safe. The situation in our government hospitals is the worst. The worst sufferers are the poor who run from pillar to post for blood and pay heavily for it. Most depend on their healthy relatives for blood. The problem is compounded when the blood group required by a patient is not available. Voluntary blood donation should become our national ethos.
