dated September 30, 1955: Intelligence test

A correspondent asked Mr. Nehru at his press conference whether he had seen Air India International's pamphlet carrying the picture of a snake-charmer. "What is wrong with snake-charming?" he asked. The correspondent said: "It (pamphlet) seems to depict India as a land of snake-charmers." The Prime Minister laughed away his fears saying, "You do not realise, if I may say so with all respect, that that satisfies the intelligence test of the tourists."
