NEW DELHI: : Four Indian boxers, including M.C. Merykom and L. Sarita Devi, moved into the semifinals of the women's World Boxing Championships at Podolsk, near Moscow, in Russia. World champion Merykom outclassed her Canadian opponent Fortin Nancy 30-13 in the quarterfinal of 46 kg class while Sarita Devi, the Asian champion in 54 kg category, thrashed Gricai Ludmila of Ukrain as referee stopped the contest (outscored) in round two of the 54 kg. Kalpana Choudhary defeated Houli Han Chery of the U.S. 24-13 in the 50 kg and Jyotsana got the bye in the 86 kg in the other last eight stage bouts on Wednesday, according to information received here on Friday. Meanwhile, R.L. Jenny, Aruna Mishra and Karamjeet Kaur crashed out of the eight-day event. PTI
