Rupee gains further against $

MUMBAI: The rupee on Thursday rallied further against the U.S. currency on renewed exporter dollar sales in extremely dull trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, adversely affected by the day-long strike by Left trade unions to protest the Centre's economic policy.

Closing at 44.01/02 a dollar, another 2-1/2 paise recovery from Wednesday's close of 44.0350/0450, the rupee was wedged in a tight range of 43.9900 and 44.0300 in muted business after an opening slot of 44.0150/0250.. — PTI
