Air Deccan flight suffers bird hit

Missing policeman case transferred to CB-CID
The policeman, K. Ramesh, attached to the Armed Reserve Police in Ramanathapuram went missing since May 11, 2004 and his father, P. Karthigaisamy of Tirumangalam, moved a habeas corpus petition before the Bench. A Division Bench comprising Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice S.K. Krishnan said the Bench issued notice to the police on March 3 and as many as six status reports were filed by the Ramanathapuram police. "However, the fact remains that no clue or positive information regarding the whereabouts have been stated in the reports." Hence, it directed the Inspector-General of Police, Crime Branch-CID to take up the matter. Later, the case was posted to October 27. Staff Reporter

The Superintendent of Police, P. Nagarajan, on Thursday said that the Madurai police arrested Karuppiah (30) of Mudurai in a double murder case. While he was taken to Trichirapalli Judicial Court, he escaped. On Wednesday night, during a vehicle check, the police arrested Karuppiah. He has been involved in 26 property offence cases and 20 non-bailable warrants are pending against him. - Staff Reporter
