Clean chit to ACP

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday accepted the inquiry report of the Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police (Vigilance) giving a clean chit to former Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Special Cell, Rajbir Singh, now holding the same rank at the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO), in a case of alleged siding with a party in a land dispute at Mansarovar Garden in West Delhi.

Accepting the report submitted by Joint Commissioner Alok Kumar Sinha, Justice R. S. Sodhi directed petitioners Surinder Kaur and Manjit Singh, against whom the Kirti Nagar police have registered a case, to surrender before the Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) concerned on October 1. The city police could arrest them, Mr. Justice Sodhi said. The Court also refused to quash the FIR against the petitioners accepting the inquiry report finding that prima facie there was sufficient material for registration of the case.

The High Court had last month rejected an inquiry conducted by a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Vigilance, and had directed a Joint Commissioner of the Delhi police to look into the allegations against Rajbir Singh afresh.

The petitioners had also demanded a CBI inquiry into the allegations but Mr. Justice Sodhi had rejected it.

The High Court had last month issued notices to Rajbir Singh, the Delhi Police Commissioner, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and four other officials of the Cell on the petition.
