CHENNAI:
The Confederation of Indian Industry, Madurai zone, has commissioned a traffic study for upgrading the Madurai airport to international standards and revive the commercial operation of the Tuticorin airport.
The objectives are to estimate the traffic potential of the airports for 5, 10, 15, and 20 years in the tourism, business passengers, domestic and international passengers and cargo traffic categories, a CII release said. The CII-Madurai has laid emphasis on tourism promotion in and around Madurai, by attracting chartered flights into the city and tapping potential for growth in international and national traffic originating from Madurai and its hinterland.
