Cases against policemen, mechanic

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The alleged demand by a probationary Sub-Inspector of Santoshnagar police station seeking `concession' in servicing charges for his motorcycle led to a demonstration by local mechanics seeking action against the SI on Thursday.

While servicing centre owner T. Venkata Narayana Reddy charged that constable Mahboob accompanying SI Koteswara Rao attacked him, the latter refuted the charges.

According to Reddy, the constable beat him up following an argument over the discount. However, the SI charged that the service centre owner had manhandled him. Reddy also alleged that when he went to the police station to lodge a complaint the constable beat him up there too.

The Santoshnagar police booked against both the complainants under section 70-B of City Police Act and 323 of IPC.
