ERODE: "People in my ward have been suffering without drinking water for the last 15 days as there has been no supply," said Velumani Kannan, a councillor of Dharapuram Municipality, at the council meeting on Thursday. The Chairperson, Santhy, said that the delay was due to some repairs in the main distribution line. Another councillor, Santhanam, suggested that the water supply system may be changed and water could be supplied on alternate days in Dharapuram as there was good flow in the Amaravathy river. The Chairperson said that the municipality had only one big tub where water was stored and supplied. Already several new water connections were provided and residents were getting water once in two days. Another councillor, Bhoopathy, wanted the Chairperson to take steps to clear garbage piled up in his ward. Marimuthu, a councillor, demanded that the Chairperson pass a resolution requesting the Government to start an Arts College in Dharapuram. The Councillors complained about the straying of dogs and pigs in the town and wanted the municipal officials to take steps to catch them.
