Desire, divinity, illusion, reality, life, creativity... .

DIFFERENT SHADES: From Puja Aggarwal's show opening in Delhi today.

NEW DELHI: It is only her second exhibition as a painter. But Puja Aggarwal has been painting since the age of seven and started attending classes at Triveni Kala Sangam when she was only 14.

An MBA by training, her first love is art. Though she worked with a management consultancy, she preferred to follow her heart and left management for the painting brush.

Training at Triveni Kala Sangam under the guidance of Rameshwar Broota, a master of contemporary Indian art, provided the perfect mould for her creativity . And art also helped her feel deeply and understand the different shades of life.

The artist claims that art has grown, imposed itself and acquired an immediacy of expression in her life. The concerns and explorations of the myriad colours of human life continue with her work.

"The process of creativity in my work calls for an exploration of the subconscious mind. I try and dive within and come out with fascinating images of life with its realities and mysteries. Nature inspires me and I want to bring to my audience a sense of peace and stillness and also move the mind to a journey of inner experiences. My other strong influence and preoccupation and concerns have been that of a woman's life,'' explains Puja.

You can catch up with the artist's latest show, "Desire and Divinity", at India Habitat Centre here from October 1 to 9. The exhibition of oil paintings and sketches brings out the essential duality of the journey of desire with its realities and illusions, with the sense of belonging as well as detachment. The show is divided into two categories: one dedicated to human beings, especially women's desires, and the other dealing with their goals to reach out to the Almighty.
