CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and north interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Kerala. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres:- Virudhachalam (Cuddalore dt.) 10, Vaniyambadi (Vellore dt.) 9, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt.) 7. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Rayakottah (Krishnagiri dt.) and Kunnavaram (Khammam dt.) 5 each, Polur (Tiruvannamalai dt.), Ambur (Vellore dt.), Tuni and Khalghatgi (Dharwad dt.) 4 each, Arani (Tiruvannamalai dt.), Krishnagiri and Soolagiri (Krishnagiri dt.) 3 each, Nagapattinam, Attur (Salem dt.), Chengalpattu and Cheyyur (both Kanchipuram dt.), Tindivanam (Villupuram dt.), Palacode (Dharmapuri dt.), Barur and Hosur (both Krishnagiri dt.), Sankaridurg (Salem dt.), Yercaud, Tirupattur and Chennapatna (Bangalore Rural dt.) 2 each .

Forecast (valid until Sunday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over north Tamilnadu, Pondicherry and coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over south Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Rayalaseema. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over north Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
