MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar will return to competitive cricket on October 10 after a long lay off caused by a troubling left elbow joint. Tendulkar has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Chairman of selectors Kiran More about his availability for the Challenger Series to be played at Mohali from October 10 to 13. The 32-year-old Tendulkar's last match was the one-day international against Pakistan at the Kotla, New Delhi on April 17, 2005. Tendulkar underwent surgery in England in May and since he's been put under a rehabilitation programme by a team of physiotherapists in the BCCI Medical Advisor Dr. Anant Joshi and the Indian team physiotherapist John Gloster. "Well, more or less I am happy with the rehabilitation work and by playing in the Challenger Trophy tournament, I would be able to figure out how my elbow reacts,'' Tendulkar told The Hindu before leaving his Bandra West residence for Lilavati Hospital where his mother, Rajni has been convalescing from a colon related illness. Earlier Tendulkar was not cleared for the two-Test series in Zimbabwe. Later on September 21, Dr. Joshi advised him to play in at least one domestic game to evaluate his recovery and not to play in the Johnnie Walker Super Series in Australia.
