Allegation baseless: India

Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI: India said on Friday that it was "deeply shocked and dismayed" at the allegations made to the press by the visiting Director-General of the Bangladesh Rifles, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, that some persons, who crossed over from India, were involved in the serial bomb blasts that took place in Bangladesh on August 17.

"This is a baseless and scurrilous allegation and is all the more shocking because it has been made against a friendly country and particularly after the two countries have had useful and constructive talks between the Bangladesh Rifles and the Border Security Force," the External Affairs Ministry spokesman said in a statement.
